Climate change causes an important impact on the increase of rain, and more particularly on the intensity of rainfall precipitations. Combined with growing land waterproofing, this multiplies the risk of flooding.
The 2nd Edition of the Brussels Urban Landscape Biennial dives into the stakes related to water management in urban environments. How to deal with the retention, infiltration or evacuation of rainwater in an integrated manner? Can landscape architecture generate answers for these complex challenges? What are the limits of the current way of addressing the question of water in the city? Through workshops, research by design, an exhibition, a colloquium and curated walks, during two months this biennial will to sensitize the broad public to the importance of water in urban environments. Instead of considering water as a threat, it will be approached as a vital and structuring element in the urban landscape.
